A World We Imagine

 A World We Imagine

by Michael Davidson

Going into the future, I often wonder how the world I know will change over my life. Will it become futuristic? Will values change? What will life be like? I imagine the world will be pretty different given how much it has already changed. I think that how it changes really depends on us. The things we practice and preach will impact the way we grow, giving us the power to change the world in what we do.

If I could say one thing about how I hope the world will be, I would say that I hope everyone thinks to look at things from others' perspective. I think that everything is relative so its logical to think that people could have different views on things from different angles. Recognizing this gives people the power to truly empathize with others. This empathy, relating to what I said in class, empowers people to really provide positive impact to others. Once you truly understand someone and see things from their shoes, then you can really understand how to help them. Often times this pays. =)

  1. Hi Michael,

Empathy is SO important in life. I also hope that in the future, people begin to look at things from other perspectives more. It is truly such an important skill to be able to really step in someone else's shoes. Angel also said something similar about using listening to truly understand others, so I love how you both have similar mindsets. I believe that the more empathy there is, the more beautiful of a future there will be.

  2. Thanks for sharing Michael. I think that trying to look at things from another person's perspective is super important also. I always try to push myself to do this when I get in an argument with someone but it is definitely easier said than done. I feel like more people today could listen to your advice as it would avoid a lot of conflicts and like you say make a positive impact on people instead. I know I still need to work on my empathy and want to focus on making a positive impact on more people.

  3. Hey Michael,

Great post! It was short but impactful. I agree that empathy is truly the tool that could change the world if everyone used it. It sounds easy to say, but when I think about seeing every aspect of life with empathy, it makes sense that not everyone does. It's difficult to choose selflessness everyday, but I hope we reach a point where we could all be effortlessly empathetic of others.
