Book Review 2 Post 2

So far I have thoroughly enjoyed   Poet Warrior ! The entire time Joy Harjo uses very descriptive language and a unique flow that really helps her to paint a vivid picture of her story. It really has made the book a joy to read, no pun intended.     I felt a connection to when Joy described how a family member asked her “What is with you and all these English words?” Not about me, but about my grandmother. As I told last time, she grew up on the Menominee Indian Reservation, very a much a part of the community. When she got older she moved away and some of her family are more disconnected as there is a little be of resent that lies among them. I don’t want to come off as someone who pretends to be Native American, as I grew up in a suburban neighborhood. However, I felt it relevant to share about my grandmother’s experience.   Im really looking forward to finishing the book, and discovering more connections with what my grandmother’s experience has been like. It’s wo...

Book 2: My book # 2 Choice

For my second book choice, I will read Poet Warrior  by Joy Harjo. On the surface I chose this book because I always have admired those who participate in multiple contrasting fields much like the name "Poet Warrior." Those two words seem very contradictory. However, it is in that contradiction that I find happiness. I've always been drawn to many very different professions or goals and I felt called to read this book. I know what you're thinking- "There's no way this guy is actually Native American." I've always been met with that response growing up as I grew up in a suburban neighborhood.  While I certainly have lived a privileged life, my Native American roots are a defining part of who I am. My grandmother was born and raised on the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin and since she moved from ...

Hotspot: Enhancing Nightlife Through Social Media

Image
Hey Class, For the past year I've been developing a business concept for a social media nightlife platform. Recently, I started developing a business plan for the concept and for this blog post I will be sharing with you all our company problem and vision statements.  Enjoy, and let me know what you think or any feedback you may have. Problem Statement In the current nightlife environment, people are filled with stress and anxiety when it comes to making decisions. People are constantly running through scenarios when they are planning a night out, asking questions like— - “Is insert bar name busy?” - “Is insert friend at insert bar name?” - “Is it worth it to go to insert bar name?” - “Will I have fun tonight?” - “What’s the best place to go?” - “Is this a USC bar?” With social technology available, there’s no reason people should stress over a night out. After all, people go out to escape their stress, not create it.  Vision Statement   Hotspot seeks to...

First Solar Inc: The Future of Energy

AMDP Memorandum   To:                     Clark Hanson, Anima Mundi Development Partners From:                Michael Davidson Date:                 7 March 2022 Subject:             Investment in First Solar Inc.   As our energy society expands and grows with new technology and scientific advancements, the need for renewable energy sources will skyrocket. Because our current energy usage as a society stems mainly from non-renewable energy sources, its backwards thinking to not be investing heavily in solar and other renewable energy sources. I’ve highlighted one such company that I see phenomenal potential in given the current state of the deteriorating energy market—  First Solar Inc. ...
