Hotspot: Enhancing Nightlife Through Social Media

 Hey Class,

For the past year I've been developing a business concept for a social media nightlife platform. Recently, I started developing a business plan for the concept and for this blog post I will be sharing with you all our company problem and vision statements.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think or any feedback you may have.

Problem Statement

In the current nightlife environment, people are filled with stress and anxiety when it comes to making decisions. People are constantly running through scenarios when they are planning a night out, asking questions like—

- “Is insert bar name busy?”

- “Is insert friend at insert bar name?”

- “Is it worth it to go to insert bar name?”

- “Will I have fun tonight?”

- “What’s the best place to go?”

- “Is this a USC bar?”

With social technology available, there’s no reason people should stress over a night out. After all, people go out to escape their stress, not create it.

Vision Statement

Hotspot seeks to create a multi-platform network for connecting various pieces of the nightlife experience. This network would serve as an economic facilitator between nightlife goers, bars & venues, and artists and performers.

The platform would begin as a social network for users to discover nightlife based on connections with friends. Once a critical mass network is established, we will create an accompanying enterprise marketing and venue management software solution for bars and venues by leveraging our existing userbase. As we expand, we’ll adapt our platforms to incorporate concert venues and artists to capture a greater share of the nightlife entertainment market.

Looking to the future, we look to maintain a level of innovation in our products through constant adaptation and creativity. Emerging technologies including AR, VR, AI, and Web 3.0 will be the center of our research and development.

Currently, we don't have a product out. However, I recently launched an Instagram account (3 days ago) to test some ideas through voting. The account itself serves as a vote tracker for the 901 Bar and Grill, a USC staple. The way it works is you vote either yes or no any given day on whether you would be interested in going to the "9-0" that night. The goal is to get enough users to track the overall 9-0 Mood for USC students on any given day. That way you know when the 9-0 is going off.

We are currently developing a mobile app that will allow users to add friends and see their votes vote for various bars around LA.

Hope you guys will check it out and share with your friends @90hotspot on insta

Also, we'll start tracking line length after spring break on our instagram account. After all everyone hates lines
