World WE Imagine

LIO: an Innovation Initiative A project designed to achieve the unachievable As we move forward, innovation and progress will be vital to our evolution as a society. It's important that we create organizations designed to solve the real problems out there. With that being said, I'm founding LIO, a privately funded organization that designs and implements innovative technologies with the goal of creating a more sustainable and long-lasting society. Our first projects will focus on solving the energy problems of the world. Using advanced technology and research we hope to focus our energy efforts on the Sun. The way we see it, we are blessed to have a massive energy source within our grasp. We have so many problems with sustainable energy that negatively impact our climate and lives. We have made some progress recently in sustainable energy, but we've only just seen the tip of the iceberg.  One specific energy source that people have been invested in is nuclear fusion. Attemp...

A World We Imagine

A World We Imagine by Michael Davidson Going into the future, I often wonder how the world I know will change over my life. Will it become futuristic? Will values change? What will life be like? I imagine the world will be pretty different given how much it has already changed. I think that how it changes really depends on us. The things we practice and preach will impact the way we grow, giving us the power to change the world in what we do.  If I could say one thing about how I hope the world will be, I would say that I hope everyone thinks to look at things from others' perspective. I think that everything is relative so its logical to think that people could have different views on things from different angles. Recognizing this gives people the power to truly empathize with others. This empathy, relating to what I said in class, empowers people to really provide positive impact to others. Once you truly understand someone and see things from their shoes, then you can real...

Book Review 2 Post 2

So far I have thoroughly enjoyed   Poet Warrior ! The entire time Joy Harjo uses very descriptive language and a unique flow that really helps her to paint a vivid picture of her story. It really has made the book a joy to read, no pun intended.     I felt a connection to when Joy described how a family member asked her “What is with you and all these English words?” Not about me, but about my grandmother. As I told last time, she grew up on the Menominee Indian Reservation, very a much a part of the community. When she got older she moved away and some of her family are more disconnected as there is a little be of resent that lies among them. I don’t want to come off as someone who pretends to be Native American, as I grew up in a suburban neighborhood. However, I felt it relevant to share about my grandmother’s experience.   Im really looking forward to finishing the book, and discovering more connections with what my grandmother’s experience has been like. It’s wo...

Book 2: My book # 2 Choice

For my second book choice, I will read Poet Warrior  by Joy Harjo. On the surface I chose this book because I always have admired those who participate in multiple contrasting fields much like the name "Poet Warrior." Those two words seem very contradictory. However, it is in that contradiction that I find happiness. I've always been drawn to many very different professions or goals and I felt called to read this book. On a much deeper note, I was pulled in by this book as it is written by Joy Harjo, a Native American woman. For context, I am part Native American. I know what you're thinking- "There's no way this guy is actually Native American." I've always been met with that response growing up as I grew up in a suburban neighborhood.  While I certainly have lived a privileged life, my Native American roots are a defining part of who I am. My grandmother was born and raised on the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin and since she moved from ...

Hotspot: Enhancing Nightlife Through Social Media

Image
Hey Class, For the past year I've been developing a business concept for a social media nightlife platform. Recently, I started developing a business plan for the concept and for this blog post I will be sharing with you all our company problem and vision statements.  Enjoy, and let me know what you think or any feedback you may have. Problem Statement In the current nightlife environment, people are filled with stress and anxiety when it comes to making decisions. People are constantly running through scenarios when they are planning a night out, asking questions like— - “Is insert bar name busy?” - “Is insert friend at insert bar name?” - “Is it worth it to go to insert bar name?” - “Will I have fun tonight?” - “What’s the best place to go?” - “Is this a USC bar?” With social technology available, there’s no reason people should stress over a night out. After all, people go out to escape their stress, not create it.  Vision Statement   Hotspot seeks to...

First Solar Inc: The Future of Energy

AMDP Memorandum   To:                     Clark Hanson, Anima Mundi Development Partners From:                Michael Davidson Date:                 7 March 2022 Subject:             Investment in First Solar Inc.   As our energy society expands and grows with new technology and scientific advancements, the need for renewable energy sources will skyrocket. Because our current energy usage as a society stems mainly from non-renewable energy sources, its backwards thinking to not be investing heavily in solar and other renewable energy sources. I’ve highlighted one such company that I see phenomenal potential in given the current state of the deteriorating energy market—  First Solar Inc. ...
More Magic Tricks with Logan Roy Welcome back to “Books with Michael ” , your favorite book review blog—hopefully. In this edition, we shall stroll down memory lane with Brian Cox’s  Putting the Rabbit Back in the Hat. I recently recognized Brian Cox when I watched his performance in the movie  Troy . I wondered why media tycoon Logan Roy—Brian Cox’s most notable character from HBO’s  Succession —was leading a Greek army against the Trojan capital. I again recognized him on the cover of his autobiography  Putting the Rabbit Back in the Hat.  Right away I was curious what magic tricks Logan Roy would teach me in his book. The book turned out to be no magic book but rather a story taking you through the life of its author.   As the book begins, the reader learns of Cox’s background and his humble origins. One specific instance that stood out to me was Cox’s story of his role in the filming of a documentary on workhouses in Britain. Cox’s describes how h...
