More Magic Tricks with Logan Roy Welcome back to “Books with Michael ” , your favorite book review blog—hopefully. In this edition, we shall stroll down memory lane with Brian Cox’s  Putting the Rabbit Back in the Hat. I recently recognized Brian Cox when I watched his performance in the movie  Troy . I wondered why media tycoon Logan Roy—Brian Cox’s most notable character from HBO’s  Succession —was leading a Greek army against the Trojan capital. I again recognized him on the cover of his autobiography  Putting the Rabbit Back in the Hat.  Right away I was curious what magic tricks Logan Roy would teach me in his book. The book turned out to be no magic book but rather a story taking you through the life of its author.   As the book begins, the reader learns of Cox’s background and his humble origins. One specific instance that stood out to me was Cox’s story of his role in the filming of a documentary on workhouses in Britain. Cox’s describes how h...

Expert Article: Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Parmesan: Life   The Early Years   Growing up in an Italian family has its perks. From a young age I was surrounded by a big family and even bigger parties. While the company was amazing, the best part about my childhood was the food.    Food runs my family. Whenever there was a celebration, half my family would be in the kitchen preparing something. Who knew it took 15 people to cook a pasta dish! From pasta bolognaise to fettucine alfredo, I’ve tried every dish there is. Amongst all these dishes, sits my absolute favorite— chicken parmesan! Once I tasted the cheesy, crispy chicken, I was hooked.    A Little History   The first chicken parmesan recipes in the United States appeared in New York in the 1950s (Preston). It has increased in popularity since and now is a staple food amongst Italian-Am...

Putting the Rabbit in the Hat by Brian Cox Book Review

Magic Tricks and CEOs From the moment I saw Logan Roy's face on the cover of this book, I was hooked. Last semester I religiously watched the HBO series Succession starring Brian Cox as media tycoon Logan Roy. The show follows a company power transfer between a father and his children. The Logan Roy character proves to be quite despicable but still an incredible businessman. I was curious to see if Brian Cox was anything like the Logan Roy character and how much they differed. I find it interesting to see how actors and actresses compare to the roles they play.  So far, I have really enjoyed the book. It's always really exciting to read about someone overcoming hardship to become successful. I like the way the book is written because the author writes in a style that really brings the reader into the story. Brian Cox does a great job of establishing the dynamic of his family and the relationships he has had.  Lastly, I connected with Brian Cox's comments on tragedy. Brian C...
